To inculcate the professional responsibilities, to play leadership role along with their diverse career paths and develop capability to utilize engineering skills in industry research centers and national laboratories and entrepreneurship.
The III, V & VII Semester, ECE students developed mini projects in the field of electronics & communication. These projects were exhibited on 3 rd December 2018 to improve their technical skills. The Principal & faculties witnessed the mini project expo and applauded the students for their effort. The Principal advised the students to try implementing the new innovative ideas in the coming semesters which would make them technically strong to face the corporate world .
Afforestation program was organized by Dept. Of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 20th September 2018, at Thithimathi forest area with an intension of preventing human – animal conflict, increasing wildlife habitat, diversifying forest species composition & replacing trees lost due to fire.
Sri. Sripathi, ACF, Thithimathi forest area was the chief guest of the programme. Sri C P Belliappa, President, KES; Dr M C Kariappa, Vice president, KES; Prof Kavitha P C, Principal, CIT; Mr Bicchu, Manager, Canara bank, Ponnampet and Mr Diwakar, HOD, Dept. of E&C presided over the function. HOD's of various department, staff and students of E&C Dept. were present during the occasion.
The chief guest addressed the gathering and advised the students to use their engineering skills in improving the forest by developing mobile apps, electric fencing tools, etc. The dignitaries planted a sampling and inaugurated the programme. The students were enthusiastic about raising greenery in the vacant areas.
Embedded project lab was inaugurated in the Department of Electronics & Communication engineering on 25 th September, 2018 in collaboration with ELINTZ LAB, Bangalore. The chief guest, Mr. Vinay Gowda, CEO , ELINTZ lab and Mr. Divakara S S , HOD, Dept. of ECE, presided the function. The chief guest addressed the students and motivated them to make best use of the lab to develop in-house embedded projects. The MOU was signed between Principal , HOD , Dept. of ECE, CIT and ELINTZ LAB CEO. This was witnessed by the President and secretary, KES .
WORKSHOP ON IMS
One day workshop on Infrastructure management Services was conducted by Dept. of Electronics and communication on 5th April 2017 for final year E&C. The resource person was CIT Alumni Mr. Manu M.Nair, Windows IT Trainer, at Jetking Rajajinagar. The workshop had limelighted on basics of networking and different software domains, industrial expectation and career and scope in networking area. Students were also enlightened regarding networking concepts.
PRACTICAL APPROACH ON SIGNAL & IMAGE PROCESSING APPLICATION USING FPGA
Workshop on “Practical approach on Signal & Image processing application using FPGA” was conducted from 6th Feb 2017 to 10th Feb 2017 by the Elite. The workshop was inaugurated by VinayGowda, CEO, Elintz lab, Bangaluru, Principal Dr.P.Mahabaleswarappa and HOD Prof.Kavitha P.C addressed the participants. Program coordinator Prof.Divakar and department Faculty and staff members were present on the occasion.50 students from EC department participated in the workshop. The resource person were Dr. Cyril Prasanna Raj P, Dean (R&D),and his Research assistants Mr. Guruprasanna , Mr. Girish& Mr.Dileep M S Engineering college, Bangaluru.
Participants worked with MATLAB & simulink under the guidance of Mr. Guruprasanna, Topics discussed were Signal processing, Image processing, reading images/videos, FIR filter design, image compression, modulation & demodulation. The Embedded system was handled by Mr. Girish & Mr.Dileep. The hands on session on interfacing sensors and actuators ,LED, LCD,using Aurdino boards and interfacing with MATLAB, Zigbee communication and case study was covered.
The Chief resource person, Dr. Cyril Prasanna Raj P, discussed FPGA architecture, design of FIR filters, IP cores & Hardware implementation, he also focused on Advanced FPGA design and provided career guidance in core electronics domain. Valedictory function was graced by presence of Mr. Rakesh Pooviah, Secretary KES.The students were greatly benefited by the session.
A one day workshop on PCB design was organized by the department on 11/11/2016 for the final year students of ECE. Mr. Vigneshwara Upadhyaya, Staff Engineer, Aruba Networks (a HPE company), Bengaluru was the resource person.
Dr. P. Mahabaleshwarappa, Principal, CIT graced the occasion along with Mrs. Kavitha P C, HOD & ELITE president and Mr. Divakara S S, ELITE secretary. Students actively participated and gained knowledge on PCB designing process.
A workshop on Basics of Photoshop was organized by department of ECE. Students of various departments of CIT attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted on 14/09/2016. Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal inaugurated the session. Mrs. Kavitha P C, HOD and ELITE president addressed the gathering.
The resource person Mr. Ramanath Kini, Asst. Prof, dept of ECE, introduced the basics tools of Photoshop along with the hands on session. The staff and students were benefitted from the session.
Fresher’s day was organized by the seniors of EC department for their juniors. The function was organized on 29/08/2015. Mr. Praveen Kumar S, Director-Science Education & Joint Secretary, Swami Vivekanada Youth Movement,( Saragoor, HD Kote Taluk) addressed the gathering and shared his experience and motivated the students.
Principal, Dr. P. Mahabaleshwarappa, Mrs. Kavitha P C, HOD & ELITE association president addressed the gathering and Mr. Divakar SS, ELITE secretary and Yashas D G, ELITE student secretary were present on the dais.
The student secretary shared his thoughts with the juniors. Cultural events were held and various games were conducted for the fresher’s and winners were rewarded. Mr. Fresher and Miss. Fresher were identified.
On the occasion of engineer’s day, “Green day- for a greener tomorrow” was organized by the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering to create awareness about the nature. Different varieties of plants were planted across the campus. Sri. C.P. Belliappa, President, KES, Sr. M MThimmaiah, Vice-president, KES, Sri. RakeshPoovaiah, Secretary, KES, Dr. P. Mahabaleshwarappa, Principal, CIT graced the occasion. President and Vice president of KES addressed the gathering by conveying the importance of plants in our lives.
The dignitaries initiated the event by planting few saplings in the campus.All the students and staff actively participated in the event by planting different samplings around the campus. Members of KES congratulated the department for organizing the event.
Technical Talk competition was organized by the department on the same day. Students actively participated in the event by delivering talks on various technical topics.
ELITE association annual day and farewell for final year students was organized on 11/05/2015. Sri. M M Thimmaiah, Vice President, Kodava Education Society was the chief guest of the function. He addressed the gathering and highlighted the opportunities in various fields of Electronics and Telecommunication and about the job opportunities to the students.
Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa , Principal presided over the function. Mrs. Kavitha P C, ELITE president, HOD of EC/TE addressed the gathering. Mr. Divakar S S, ELITE Secretary presented the annual report of the association. Mr. Lakshman H P, ELITE students’ secretary and few other students shared their views and experience of their stay in the institution.
Department newsletter was released on the occasion by the chief guest. Academic toppers and prize winners of various events were rewarded on the occasion. Mementos were distributed to the final year students. Various games and cultural events were conducted by the juniors for the final year students.
A session on Raspberry pi was conducted by Mr. Nidhin and team of Visma Technologies from Chennai. The application of Raspberry pi was demonstrated to students of VIII semester of ECE/TCE.
A workshop on Analog circuits was organized for the faculty members of CS/IS departments by the faculty members of EC/TC department. A theory session was handled by Mr. Divakar S S. and Mr. Ramesh H .R.
In workshop, uses of LaTeX in various fields were discussed along with the hands on session. The resource persons were Dr. Sudarshan patil Kulkarni, Research scientist, SJCE, Mysore & Dr. Chandrashekar M Patil, Assosiate professor, VVCE, Mysore.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.Course is a four years under-Graduate program in Bachelor of Engineering, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) , Belagavi, Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Course Content includes Applied Electronics, VLSI Design and Embedded systems, Digital Electronics and Communication Systems, Computer Network Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Electronics, Embedded systems, Bio medical signal processing and instrumentation. The Department comprises of experienced and skilled technical support staff. The student staff ratio has been maintained as per AICTE norms.
