SUMMARY:Add-On Course on “Data Science Using Machine Learning”
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized Six days workshop on “Data Science Using Machine Learning” from 13th May 2024 to 18th May 2024.The program was organized for second year students. \n  \nDignitaries on the dais during the Inaugural Programme \nDAY 1: \nThe Course begins with an introduction to data science and the role of machine learning within it. The session covered the introduction to simple python codes and it’s working. The session also covered features of python. \n \nResource person interacting with students during Hands-on session \nDAY 2: \nOn the second day\, the focus shifts to exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data visualization. The morning session covers descriptive statistics\, pattern identification\, and feature engineering. \nDAY 3: \nDay three introduces supervised learning with a focus on regression. The morning session covers the basics of supervised learning\, linear regression models\, and their assumptions. \nDAY 4: \nThe fourth day is dedicated to classification algorithms. The morning session covers logistic regression\, decision trees\, and k-Nearest Neighbors\, along with model evaluation techniques like confusion matrices and ROC curves. \nDAY 5: \nParticipants explored unsupervised learning on the fifth day\, starting with an introduction to its applications and key differences from supervised learning. The morning session covers clustering algorithms such as k-means\, hierarchical clustering\, and DBSCAN. \nDAY 6: \nThe final day emphasizes model deployment and a capstone project. The morning session introduces model deployment using Flask and Django\, building REST APIs\, and deploying models on cloud platforms like AWS\, GCP\, and Azure.

SUMMARY:Mini Project Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Student Association “TECHNOVA” of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a mini project exhibition on IoT- ‘Project Palooza’ for 6th semester students of Computer Science and Engineering on 23rd July 2024. The mini project exhibition showcased an impressive array of innovative and creative projects created by the students. Dr. M. Basavaraj\, Principal and Mrs. Daina K K\, HOD\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering visited the exhibition during the scheduled time and were warmly welcomed by the organizing committee and students. Mr. Ramesh H R\, HOD\, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science was the judge for the event. \nAll Heads of Departments attended the exhibition\, alongside other faculty members from all the departments. They provided valuable feedback and guidance to the students. They took a comprehensive tour of the exhibition\, engaging with students and gaining insights into the projects. Each team had a designated booth where they demonstrated their projects and explained their working models to the visitors. \nAt the end of the exhibition\, results were announced. There were 55 students in the mini project exhibition and 14 batches participated in the event. It was delightful to announce and celebrate a momentous achievement as Azmeena A A and team secured the prestigious first place\, Deepa S J and team secured second place and Kavya K S and team secured third place in the mini project exhibition.

SUMMARY:Bits and Brains- Tech Trivia
DESCRIPTION:The Student Association “TECHNOVA” of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an event “Bits and Brains -Tech Trivia” on 26th of July\, 2024 at 02.30PM in the third-floor seminar hall with the objective of assessing the technical knowledge and skills of students from Computer Science and allied branches and to foster a spirit of healthy competition among them. Our beloved Principal Dr. M Basavaraj addressed the students and Prof. Daina K K\, Hod of Computer Science and Engineering\, and all the teaching and non- teaching staff of the department attended the event. The competition was conducted for the second year and third year students. \nThe “Bits and Brains Tech Trivia” was an exciting two-day event that tested participants’ knowledge in computer science and related fields. The event kicked off with a preliminary round conducted online via the Kahoot platform. This round featured 20 questions covering the basics of Computer Science and its various domains. A total of 35 teams\, each comprising two members\, registered for the event. Based on their rankings in the quiz\, the top four teams advanced to the finals. The finals were structured into four challenging rounds on 31st of July 2024 at 10.30AM. A unique scoring system added an element of strategy to the competition. First place was bagged by Varshitha and Preethi of 6th semester Computer Science and Engineering and second place was bagged by AI&ML 3rd year students. \n1)Team THE BOYS won Second place \n\n2)Teams selected for the final round \n  \n\n3)Interaction between the teams in the final round \n  \n\n4)Team FRIENDS won First place

The chief guest of the function was Mr. Kalappa Chowrira\, SAP Alliance Leader\, EY Global Delivery Services\, Bangalore\, Sri. C P Rakesh Poovaiah\, Secretary\, Principal Dr. M Basavaraj\, Prof. Daina K K\, Hod of Computer Science and Engineering\, the training and placement officer Dr. Muthanna K P and all the teaching and non- teaching staff of the department attended the event. The session was conducted for the third-year students. \nSri. Kalappa Chowrira shared his expertise on various aspects of career development\, including career opportunities\, industry trends\, skill development\, and success stories. His insightful presentation provided students with a comprehensive understanding of what to expect in their chosen careers and how to prepare themselves for success. The event featured an interactive session\, where students engaged in a Q&A session with Sri. Kalappa Chowrira\, seeking guidance on their career aspirations. This session provided a unique opportunity for students to clarify their doubts and gain valuable advice from an industry expert.
