The session began with a warm welcome extended to all the dignitaries\, faculty members\, and students by the members of Technova. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from pre-final year and final-year students of the department. The resource person for the program was Mr. Sooraj K Babu\, Scientist at Dr. Moopen’s iNEST\, and Founder of NueBiom Labs and an AgriTech Startup. Dr. M Basavaraj \, Principal\, Prof.Daina K K\, HOD and Prof. Kirthan K M\, Coordinator\, Technova were also present on the stage during formal function.

DESCRIPTION:The Department under the banner of its Students’ Association – Technova\, organized a 24-hour National Level Hackathon – Hacknova 1.O on 15th and 16th October 2025. The event\, themed “Think Fast\, Build Faster\, Innovate Forever\,” brought together talented innovators from across the country to design and develop solutions in the domains of Robotics\, Internet of Things (IoT)\, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).The Hackathon was coordinated by Prof. Kirthan K M.The jury panel for the hackathon comprised eminent personalities — Dr. Shiva Prakash S. P.\, Professor and Head\, Department of IS&E\, JSS STU\, Mysuru; Dr. Sanjay Kumar C. K.\, Associate Professor and Head\, Department of MCA\, NIE\, Mysuru; and Mr. Brijesh C. A.\, CEO of Just Robotics\, Bengaluru. The winner prize of Rs. 25\,000 was bagged by team Justice Gang of JSS STU Mysuru and the runner up of the Hacknova was team Mall Matrix of BMS and Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering Bengaluru and was rewarded with Rs. 15\,000. Team GCEK of Government College of Engineering Kerala secured best innovation prize of Rs. 5000 and team AURA of JSS STU Mysuru received Best problem statement cash prize of Rs. 5000. \n     \n

DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering\, celebrated Engineers’ Day and organized the Installation Ceremony of Technova Student Association 2025-26 on 15th September 2025.\nThe program began at the Kaveri Statue with floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya\, followed by a cultural performance symbolizing the four-year journey of engineering. Principal Dr. M Basavaraj addressed the gathering\, highlighting the values of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and inspiring students to uphold responsibility as future engineers.\nThe Installation Ceremony held in the Seminar Hall featured the release of the annual Newsletter\, report presentation by Prof. Kirthan K M\, and badge distribution to newly elected association members. Principal Dr.M Basavaraj\, in his detailed address\, appreciated the department’s activities and encouraged students to take up interdisciplinary projects\, assuring that the management is ready to fund innovative initiatives The Principal was then honored by the department for his continuous encouragement\, support\, and visionary leadership that has guided both faculty and students to achieve excellence.\nThe Oath Taking was administered by Prof. Daina K K\, HOD of CSE. Chief Guest Mr. Chandrashekar B S\, Senior Manager\, Accenture\, Bengaluru delivered a detailed address\, inspiring students with his talk on skill development\, adaptability\, and innovation in engineering. He stressed the need for continuous learning and keeping pace with technological advancements. Mr. Chandrashekar B \, was also honoured by the dignitaries present on the dais.\nThe event concluded with a Vote of Thanks\, marking the celebration as a meaningful tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya and a promising beginning for Technova 2025-26.

DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science organized an outreach programme on 24th May 2025 for the students of 4th and 6th semester. The objective of the programme was to provide students with practical exposure beyond the classroom through industrial and cultural visits. As part of the programme\, students visited the Nandini Milk Dairy\, operated by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF)\, where they were introduced to the functioning of milk processing\, packaging\, and distribution systems. And the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe\, also known as the Namdroling Monastery. This cultural visit offered a unique insight into Tibetan traditions\, monastic life\, and architectural beauty. The serene atmosphere of the monastery allowed students to reflect on values such as peace\, discipline\, and community living.

SUMMARY:Nova Carnival
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Coorg Institute of Technology organized an intra-collegiate fest named “Nova Carnival” on the 24th  and 25th  of March 2025. The fest aimed to bring together students through a blend of Technical\, Cultural\, and Sports Events\, encouraging participation and teamwork. The fest began with a grand inaugural program\, where the Nova Carnival trophies were unveiled\, marking the official commencement of the event. This was followed by an energetic flash mob performed by students of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering\, adding excitement to the atmosphere. The first day of the fest- 24th March 2025\, focused on technical events and sports competitions and cultural and  football finals was witnessed on the he second day 25th March 2025.

The industrial visit to the HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum was organized to provide Students with a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and technological advancements of the aerospace industry in India. A total of 64 students participated in the Technical Seminar. Harshith AK bagged the first prize and Dona Mitchel bagged the second prize. Participation certificates were distributed to all the student.

DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an installation ceremony of the Student Association -Technova on 27th September 2024 for the academic year 2024-25 in third floor seminar hall. The installation ceremony of the Student Association was graced by the presence of Major Rohan Kuttappa as the Chief Guest. A glimpse video was shown that captured the highlights of previous Technova events which was a way to get the audience excited about the upcoming events and to showcase the success of past events. A report was presented by Prof. Sangana Koti Reddy on the previous Technova events which included information on the events conducted\, number of participants. Badges were distributed to all the newly elected office bearers of the Student Association which was a way to identify and create a sense of community. The newly elected office bearers took an oath to uphold the values of the Technova association.

DESCRIPTION:The Student Association “TECHNOVA” of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an event “Bits and Brains -Tech Trivia” on 26th of July\, 2024 at 02.30PM in the third-floor seminar hall with the objective of assessing the technical knowledge and skills of students from Computer Science and allied branches and to foster a spirit of healthy competition among them. Our beloved Principal Dr. M Basavaraj addressed the students and Prof. Daina K K\, Hod of Computer Science and Engineering\, and all the teaching and non- teaching staff of the department attended the event. The competition was conducted for the second year and third year students. \nThe “Bits and Brains Tech Trivia” was an exciting two-day event that tested participants’ knowledge in computer science and related fields. The event kicked off with a preliminary round conducted online via the Kahoot platform. This round featured 20 questions covering the basics of Computer Science and its various domains. A total of 35 teams\, each comprising two members\, registered for the event. Based on their rankings in the quiz\, the top four teams advanced to the finals. The finals were structured into four challenging rounds on 31st of July 2024 at 10.30AM. A unique scoring system added an element of strategy to the competition. DESCRIPTION:The Student Association “TECHNOVA” of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a mini project exhibition on IoT- ‘Project Palooza’ for 6th semester students of Computer Science and Engineering on 23rd July 2024. The mini project exhibition showcased an impressive array of innovative and creative projects created by the students. Dr. M. Basavaraj\, Principal and Mrs. Daina K K\, HOD\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering visited the exhibition during the scheduled time and were warmly welcomed by the organizing committee and students. Mr. Ramesh H R\, HOD\, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science was the judge for the event. \nAll Heads of Departments attended the exhibition\, alongside other faculty members from all the departments. They provided valuable feedback and guidance to the students. They took a comprehensive tour of the exhibition\, engaging with students and gaining insights into the projects. Each team had a designated booth where they demonstrated their projects and explained their working models to the visitors. \nAt the end of the exhibition\, results were announced. There were 55 students in the mini project exhibition and 14 batches participated in the event. It was delightful to announce and celebrate a momentous achievement as Azmeena A A and team secured the prestigious first place\, Deepa S J and team secured second place and Kavya K S and team secured third place in the mini project exhibition.

The morning session covers descriptive statistics\, pattern identification\, and feature engineering. \nDAY 3: \nDay three introduces supervised learning with a focus on regression. The morning session covers the basics of supervised learning\, linear regression models\, and their assumptions. \nDAY 4: \nThe fourth day is dedicated to classification algorithms. The morning session covers logistic regression\, decision trees\, and k-Nearest Neighbors\, along with model evaluation techniques like confusion matrices and ROC curves. \nDAY 5: \nParticipants explored unsupervised learning on the fifth day\, starting with an introduction to its applications and key differences from supervised learning. The morning session covers clustering algorithms such as k-means\, hierarchical clustering\, and DBSCAN. \nDAY 6: \nThe final day emphasizes model deployment and a capstone project. The morning session introduces model deployment using Flask and Django\, building REST APIs\, and deploying models on cloud platforms like AWS\, GCP\, and Azure.

DESCRIPTION:Workshop on “IOT Application for Product Development” \n  \nThe Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized Three days’ workshop on “IOT Application for Product Development” from 23rd May 2024 to 25th May 2024\, was an insightful event led by Mr.Kotresh Mundrugi\,Director\, Infotech Solution\,Bengaluru and Vikas  P .The program was organized for Third year students. \nDAY 1: \nOn the first day\, the session started with a brief explanation about the need for IoT in industrial applications\, followed by the methodology for its implementation. Participants were introduced to embedded system design\, sensors\, and actuators for collecting data to monitor over IoT. The session concluded with a detailed explanation of microcontrollers and microprocessors. \nIn the afternoon\, the focus shifted to Python program development for basic switching applications\, including control commands\, logic gates implementation\, and internal registers utilization. \nResource person interacting with students during Workshop \nDAY 2: \nOn the second day\, the session covered the need for mobile apps in industrial IoT\, followed by an introduction to GUI-based modular mobile app development. The session also included discussions on the basic elements of front-end design (UI)\, the usage of graphics and other media elements in UI\, and text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversions using onboard elements of mobile devices. The session concluded with a discussion on data storage and fetching from cloud databases. The session also covered the integration of code with Firebase for establishing IoT connections and capturing data using the developed mobile app for cloud storage. \nResource person interacting with students during Workshop \nDAY 3: \nThe final day began with a session on frontend and backend code development for GUI-based control panels\, including integration with Firebase for establishing IoT connections. The workshop covered the need for actuators circuits and the establishment of communication between cloud databases and mobile embedded systems for real-time value storing. The day concluded with the development of a health monitoring system using IoT and the final testing of the product.

The introduction by Mr. Biligiri Ranga likely set the stage for the participants\, providing a foundation of knowledge about Infosys Mysore before they delved deeper into the specifics of the company during the visit. \nMr. Biligiri Ranga\, from the operations specialist\, played a crucial role in providing insights into the importance of Spring Board and training. Infosys Springboard is a Digital literacy program launched as part of the Infosys ESG Tech for Good charter. It aims to enable students and associated communities from early education to lifelong learners by imparting digital and life skills through curated content & interventions\, free of cost. \nKaynes Technology is a leading electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider specializing in PCB assembly\, box build assembly\, and electromechanical assembly for diverse industries including automotive\, aerospace\, and consumer electronics. \nBefore the visit began\, a comprehensive safety briefing was conducted\, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety protocols and guidelines throughout the visit. Participants were instructed on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures. \nThe industrial visit to Kaynes Technology concluded with a recap of key insights gained during the tour. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to witness the advanced manufacturing capabilities of Kaynes Technology. Feedback collected from participants will be used to enhance future industrial visit experiences.

The spotlight then shifted to Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The speaker elaborated on different types of ANNs\, the concept of Artificial Neurons\, and the significance of the Perceptron. Furthermore\, he explored Learning Theory and the intricacies of training in a Multi-Layered Perceptron. The students actively participated in a dynamic question-and-answer session\, problem solving\, gaining valuable insights and clarifications on various facets of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The program was presided by Dr.M C Kariappa Hon.President\, Kodava Education Society. Dr.M Basavaraj\, Principal and the HOD’s of all the departments graced the occasion. Dr. Gururaj H L delivered an insightful and motivational address\, emphasizing the importance of student associations in shaping the future of aspiring professionals. He shared valuable experiences from his own journey and encouraged students to actively engage in opportunities for learning and growth.\nFollowing the successful inauguration of the Computer Science Department Student Association Program\, a workshop on Cyber Security was organized. Dr. Gururaj H L and his esteemed coworker\, Dr. Shreyas J collaboratively brought together their expertise and insights\, providing an invaluable learning opportunity for the students. The workshop began with an in-depth overview of the current cyber security landscape. Dr. Gururaj and Dr. Shreyas covered key concepts such as threat vectors\, attack surfaces\, and the importance of risk assessment in cyber security. This workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights and skills in the ever-evolving field of cyber security.\nThe inauguration of the Department Students’ Association was a resounding success. The event provided an excellent platform for students and faculty to witness the culmination of hard work\, creativity\, and innovation in diverse fields. Dr. M. Basavaraj\, Principal and Mrs. Daina K K\, HOD\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering visited the exhibition during the scheduled time and were warmly welcomed by the organizing committee and students. They took a comprehensive tour of the exhibition\, engaging with students and gaining insights into the projects. Totally 8 batches participated in the event.
