The session covered the introduction to simple python codes and it’s working. The session also covered features of python. \n \nResource person interacting with students during Hands-on session \nDAY 2: \nOn the second day\, the focus shifts to exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data visualization. The morning session covers descriptive statistics\, pattern identification\, and feature engineering. \nDAY 3: \nDay three introduces supervised learning with a focus on regression. The morning session covers the basics of supervised learning\, linear regression models\, and their assumptions. \nDAY 4: \nThe fourth day is dedicated to classification algorithms. The morning session covers logistic regression\, decision trees\, and k-Nearest Neighbors\, along with model evaluation techniques like confusion matrices and ROC curves. \nDAY 5: \nParticipants explored unsupervised learning on the fifth day\, starting with an introduction to its applications and key differences from supervised learning. The morning session covers clustering algorithms such as k-means\, hierarchical clustering\, and DBSCAN. \nDAY 6: \nThe final day emphasizes model deployment and a capstone project. The morning session introduces model deployment using Flask and Django\, building REST APIs\, and deploying models on cloud platforms like AWS\, GCP\, and Azure.

DESCRIPTION:Workshop on “IOT Application for Product Development” \n  \nThe Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized Three days’ workshop on “IOT Application for Product Development” from 23rd May 2024 to 25th May 2024\, was an insightful event led by Mr.Kotresh Mundrugi\,Director\, Infotech Solution\,Bengaluru and Vikas  P .The program was organized for Third year students. \nDAY 1: \nOn the first day\, the session started with a brief explanation about the need for IoT in industrial applications\, followed by the methodology for its implementation. Participants were introduced to embedded system design\, sensors\, and actuators for collecting data to monitor over IoT. The session concluded with a detailed explanation of microcontrollers and microprocessors. \nIn the afternoon\, the focus shifted to Python program development for basic switching applications\, including control commands\, logic gates implementation\, and internal registers utilization. \nResource person interacting with students during Workshop \nDAY 2: \nOn the second day\, the session covered the need for mobile apps in industrial IoT\, followed by an introduction to GUI-based modular mobile app development. The session also included discussions on the basic elements of front-end design (UI)\, the usage of graphics and other media elements in UI\, and text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversions using onboard elements of mobile devices. The session concluded with a discussion on data storage and fetching from cloud databases. The session also covered the integration of code with Firebase for establishing IoT connections and capturing data using the developed mobile app for cloud storage. \nResource person interacting with students during Workshop \nDAY 3: \nThe final day began with a session on frontend and backend code development for GUI-based control panels\, including integration with Firebase for establishing IoT connections. The workshop covered the need for actuators circuits and the establishment of communication between cloud databases and mobile embedded systems for real-time value storing. The day concluded with the development of a health monitoring system using IoT and the final testing of the product.

The programme was organized for the students of all the departments. \nThere were 20 teams each consisting of 4 members registered for the event. \nThe official match was played in Erangle where the top 16 teams were selected for the next round. The second match was conducted in Shanok map and third was again in Miramar followed by fourth match in Erangle. \nTop 2 teams were selected according to the killing rate and consistency winning top 3 palaces in all matches. Most Valuable Player (MVP) was selected according to the more number of kills in all the matches the player played among all the teams. \nThe winners of the tournament was Amith A \, Manoj M Jadav\, Shreyas Yadav and Vijay SN \nThe runners were Limon Karumbaiah\, Akshay C V\, Nikhil Madappa and Mohammad Asif C A

Infosys Springboard is a Digital literacy program launched as part of the Infosys ESG Tech for Good charter. It aims to enable students and associated communities from early education to lifelong learners by imparting digital and life skills through curated content & interventions\, free of cost. \nKaynes Technology is a leading electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider specializing in PCB assembly\, box build assembly\, and electromechanical assembly for diverse industries including automotive\, aerospace\, and consumer electronics. \nBefore the visit began\, a comprehensive safety briefing was conducted\, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety protocols and guidelines throughout the visit. Participants were instructed on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures. \nThe industrial visit to Kaynes Technology concluded with a recap of key insights gained during the tour. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to witness the advanced manufacturing capabilities of Kaynes Technology. Feedback collected from participants will be used to enhance future industrial visit experiences.

He delved into several Decision Tree Induction Algorithms\, including ID3\, C4.5\, CART\, and Regression trees. Additionally\, he covered essential topics like validating and pruning decision trees. The spotlight then shifted to Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The speaker elaborated on different types of ANNs\, the concept of Artificial Neurons\, and the significance of the Perceptron. Furthermore\, he explored Learning Theory and the intricacies of training in a Multi-Layered Perceptron. The students actively participated in a dynamic question-and-answer session\, problem solving\, gaining valuable insights and clarifications on various facets of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Dr. Gururaj H L delivered an insightful and motivational address\, emphasizing the importance of student associations in shaping the future of aspiring professionals. He shared valuable experiences from his own journey and encouraged students to actively engage in opportunities for learning and growth.\nFollowing the successful inauguration of the Computer Science Department Student Association Program\, a workshop on Cyber Security was organized. Dr. Gururaj H L and his esteemed coworker\, Dr. Shreyas J collaboratively brought together their expertise and insights\, providing an invaluable learning opportunity for the students. The workshop began with an in-depth overview of the current cyber security landscape. Dr. Gururaj and Dr. Shreyas covered key concepts such as threat vectors\, attack surfaces\, and the importance of risk assessment in cyber security. This workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights and skills in the ever-evolving field of cyber security.\nThe inauguration of the Department Students’ Association was a resounding success. The event not only marked the formal beginning of the association but also fostered a sense of community and excitement among the students.

He delivered an inspiring and informative talk on the latest trends in technology\, with a particular focus on “Slide Rule” and “Singularity”. The audience gained valuable insights into how “Slide Rule” principles can be applied in real world engineering projects. \nIn addition to “Slide Rule”\, the chief guest delved into the intriguing topic of “Singularity”\, this concept often associated with artificial intelligence and robotics\, refers to points where functions or system become undefined or exhibit extreme behaviors. The audience learned about the significance of singularity in cutting edge technology and its potential implications for the future.

Mr. Raghavendra D educated the students about how evolving fields like engineering and technology changes with continuous advancement and jobs in the IT industry demand trained and up-to-date individuals that keep track of industry changes. The resource person explained how Career guidance can help students understand their strengths\, weaknesses\, and interests\, and provided them with a clearer picture of the career paths available to them. He also explained the students about the importance of improving communication skills and how it enables students to identify\, articulate\, model\, and solve problems. A total of around 236 students participated in the session.

DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a talk on “IT challenges and opportunities” on 26th June at 11:30 a.m. The talk was organized for the second year and pre-final year students of Computer Science and Engineering\, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Electronics and Communication departments at 3rd floor seminar hall. The resource person of the event was Mr. Sanjay G S\, Head of Engineering/CTO\, Monnai Technology India Pvt. Ltd\, Bangalore. Mrs. Kirthan K M Assistant Professor\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering welcomed the gathering and was the Master of Ceremony. Dr. M Basavaraj\, Principal introduced the resource person. Mrs. Kirthan K M delivered vote of thanks. Prof. Daina K K\, the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and all department HOD’s\, teaching faculties were also present for the event. \n\n\n\nThe resource person explained VUCA\, an acronym based on the leadership theories. Volatility\, Uncertainty\, Complexity and Ambiguity refers to leaders who are able or forced to shift and respond to changes in their respective industry or market with corresponding solutions that are quick and agile. He also briefed about Big Data and its importance in companies to improve operations\, provide better customer service\, create personalized marketing campaigns. The resource person also gave insights about roles and responsibilities and talent requirements for IT.

SUMMARY:(Certification Course) entitled “Python”
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized twelve daysworkshop on “Python” from 22 nd May 2023 to 02 nd June 2023.The workshopwas organized with the objective of promoting the awareness and skills amongII-year CSE students about Python Programming and its applications. Theworkshop was attended by 55 participants.The workshop started with Git and GitHub version control systems andadvantages of git and GitHub. The workshop resource person initially focusedon introduction to python\, its features and applications. The students got achance to learn python data types\, operators\, control structures\, functions\, datastructures\, modules\, packages\, oops concepts\, files\, libraries of Data sciencethoroughly. Meanwhile the queries raised by the students were also answered inan efficient way in all the sessions by the resource persons.The workshop participants were able to successfully code and run theirprograms. SUMMARY:Add-on Course entitled “Amazon Web Services”
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized five-days Add-on Course on “Amazon Web Services” from 25th April 2023 to 29th April 2023. The programme was organized for the pre-final year students. The inaugural ceremony was conducted in the 3rd floor seminar hall. The resource persons of the event was Mr. Kotresh M\, Director\, Indian Tech-Keys\, Bengaluru and Mr. Swaroop Rajagopal\, Software Engineer\, Indian Tech-Keys\, Bengaluru. Mr. Kotresh M\, was the chief guest of the event and Honorable Secretary of Kodava Education Society\, Sri C P Rakesh Poovaiah was the Guest of Honour. Students of 6th semester Ms. Drushya Dechakka welcomed the gathering\, Ms. Vivina Muthamma introduced the resource person\, Mr. Rohan Ponnanna delivered vote of thanks\, Ms.  Payal Thangamma was the Master of Ceremony. Dr. M Basavaraj\, Principal and Prof. Daina K K\, the Head of the Department and teaching and non-teaching staff were present in the inauguration function. \n\n\n\nDAY 1 \n\n\n\nMorning Session 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe Add on Course began with an introduction to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its various services after the inaugural function. The session covered the basics of AWS\, its history\, and its significance in today’s technology-driven world. The session also included an overview of AWS’s core services\, including EC2\, S3\, and RDS. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM \n\n\n\nIn the afternoon session\, the focus was on setting up AWS accounts and creating instances. The session covered the basics of setting up AWS accounts\, creating instances\, and configuring them to meet specific requirements. Participants were also introduced to various AWS tools\, including AWS Management Console\, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI)\, and AWS Software Development Kit (SDK). \n\n\n\nDAY 2 \n\n\n\nMorning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe morning session of day 2 focused on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). Participants learned about the benefits of using EC2 and S3\, their features\, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of EC2 instances and their use cases. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM \n\n\n\nThe afternoon session focused on Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) and Amazon DynamoDB. The session covered the benefits of using RDS and DynamoDB\, their features\, and how to set them up. Participants learned about the different types of databases available and their use cases. \n\n\n\nDAY 3 \n\n\n\nMorning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe morning session of day 3 focused on Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). Participants learned about VPC and its features\, including security groups and network access control lists (ACLs). The session also covered IAM\, including how to create users\, groups\, and policies. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM \n\n\n\nThe afternoon session focused on Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53. Participants learned about the benefits of using CloudFront and Route 53\, their features\, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of distributions available for CloudFront. \n\n\n\nDAY 4 \n\n\n\nMorning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe morning session of day 4 focused on AWS Lambda and AWS Elastic Beanstalk. Participants learned about the benefits of using Lambda and Elastic Beanstalk\, their features\, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of Lambda functions and the different types of Elastic Beanstalk environments. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM \n\n\n\nThe afternoon session focused on creating and launching Instance. To create new key pair. \n\n\n\nThe students got the thorough knowledge in creating an instance and launching it and to host web app in AWS Server. \n\n\n\nDAY 5 \n\n\n\nMorning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe morning session of day 5 focused on AWS CloudTrail and AWS CloudWatch. Participants learned about the benefits of using CloudTrail and CloudWatch\, their features\, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of logs available for CloudTrail and the different types of metrics available for CloudWatch. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM The final session of the Add on Course was a hands-on lab session. They were given a series of tasks to complete using AWS services\, and they had to apply what they learned to complete the tasks successfully.

SUMMARY:Green Initiative and Awareness
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has taken initiative to organize an event on green initiative on Tuesday\, 7th March 2023. The final year students of all departments visited various schools around the college to create awareness on Green Initiative. And the plants were distributed and planted in all the schools to create awareness in the children and also to maintain those plants. \n\n\n\nThe schools identified for the different departments are: \n\n\n\n\nGMP school\, Gonikoppal – Mechanical Engineering department\n\n\n\nGMP school\, Ponnampet – Civil Engineering department\n\n\n\nGMP High school\, Gonikoppal – Electronics & Communication department\n\n\n\nAthur school\, Athur – Computer Science and Engineering department\n\n\n\nGMP school\, Polibetta – Computer Science and Engineering department\n\n\n\n\nThe different activities identified were: \n\n\n\n\nPlanting trees\n\n\n\nRemoving trash\n\n\n\nA talk on deforestation\n\n\n\nA talk on segregation of wet and dry waste.\n\n\n\nA talk on Introducing compostable options to replace plastic.\n\n\n\n\nThe students of different department were divided into different groups to perform the above mentioned activities: \n\n\n\n\nA talk on deforestation was delivered by Neha V V (CS&E)\, Shwetha M(CSE)\, Jhanvi Uthappa (CSE)\, Disha Somaiah (CSE)\, Supreeth (CSE)\, Sowmya (EC)\, Chethan (EC)\, Inchara Nayaka B V(CV)\, Gowtham Gappanna A M(ME)\, K A Tharang (ME).\n\n\n\n A talk on segregation of wet and dry waste was delivered by Supriya M(CS&E)\, Unnatha S(CS&E)\, Sinchana (EC)\, Hemanth (EC)\, Ashwini C Nayak (CV)\, Pranam B R(ME)\, Puneeth Kumar H S(ME).\n\n\n\n A talk on Introducing compostable options to replace plastic   was delivered by Gangamma B P (CS&E)\, Hemashree (CS&E)\, Amshika M S(CS&E)\, Nirup N (CS&E)\, Sinchana (EC)\, Hemanth (EC)\, Anjali M R(CV).\n\n\n\n\nApart from the activities assigned\, the students also interacted with the school students about various things\, played some games\, shared stories and made it a memorable and successful event. SUMMARY:Significance of Honors Degree
DESCRIPTION:The Department had organized a Talk on Honor’s Degree on Saturday\, 25thFebruary 2023 at 3rdfloor seminar hall in the college at 10:30am.All the third semester students of all the branches were present for the event. The main purpose of the talk was to give the students a knowledge on how the honor’s degree would benefit them in their future. \n\n\n\nResource person Prof. Yogesha T\, Department of CS&E\, VTU\, P.G. Center\, Mysuru\, spoke to students about Honor’s degree\, its significance. The criteria to obtain Honor’s Degree by setting minimum CGPA and credit points that they need to achieve/ maintain to be eligible to apply for it. \n\n\n\nHe briefed about the different online courses like NPTEL\, MOOC\, Swayam and AICTE etc. and about the assignment\, fees and exam pattern conducted by these online courses. \n\n\n\nHe also updated about the normal B.E degree and B.E Honor’s degree and calculation of  SGPA and CGPA according to their credits offered to particular subject. The students got an idea about the opportunities that they would get in research field and also the higher packages that would be offered to them. By 5th semester if the students are not having any backlogs and meet all these criteria would be eligible to register for Honor’s degree. Vote of thanks was given by Mahitha -3rd semester CSE student. Hod thanked the resource person for educating our students regarding the Honor’s degree and for his precious time.

SUMMARY:Program on “IEEE Xplore Digital Library”
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a one-day workshop on “IEEE Xplore-Digital Library” on the 12th of January 2023. The programme was organized on the occasion of National Youth Day celebrating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in association with Library committee and VTU Consortium. The programme was organized for the students of the pre-final year of the Department in the third floor seminar hall. The resource person of the event was Mr.  M S Srinivas\, EBSCO Training manager\, Bengaluru. The Honorable Secretary of Kodava Education Society\, Sri C P Rakesh Poovaiah was the Guest of Honour. Students of 5th semester Ms. Disha welcomed the gathering\, Ms. Thasmiya Naghma introduced the resource person \, Ms. Thangamma delivered vote of thanks\, Ms.  Chondamma was the Master of Ceremony. Prof. Daina K K\, the Head of the Department was also present in the programme. \n\n\n\nAs it was the special occasion of National Youth Day\, the programme began by offering a floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda. Ms. Vivina and Ms. Prarthana M R threw light on the importance of National Youth Day and spoke in length about the principles followed by Swami Vivekananda. \n\n\n\nMorning Session 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nThe resource person started the session by stating that IEEE Xplore is a digital library which provides global access to millions of research papers. He explained about the different features of IEEE Xplore. The resource person also mentioned that the digital library provides access to code of the implementation carried out in the papers. This will be extremely useful for the students for implementing the base paper as projects in their final year. There will be a separate section focusing on the different equations that is used in the paper.  The resource person also informed that the reference section of the paper is very important as it reflects how many people have referred to the work of a particular author. \n\n\n\nAfternoon Session 2:00PM-4:00PM \n\n\n\nIn the afternoon session hands on session about how to use the different features of IEEE Xplore was conducted. The students were taught how to download papers from IEEE Xplore. The resource person also informed the students that our institute has free access to many papers as it has association with VTU Consortium. All the students were able to create an account in IEEE Xplore. The resource person also educated students about the types of papers to refer to implement their projects. At the end the resource person conducted a quiz on the aspects of IEEE Digital Xplore discussed with the students in the workshop.
