Placements

The Training and Placement Department at CIT acts as a connecting hub between the industry and the students. The purpose of the Training and Placement department is to guide students to choose the right career and to give the knowledge to meet the requirements of the industry. The training and placement cell at CIT is headed by the Training and Placement Officer and the departmental staff members as the coordinators.

To groom students to achieve their career objectives through systematic training in soft skills and technical skills, expose to the corporate environment and enable them to secure jobs through campus placements.

The department takes care of the following activities

  • Skill-gap identification and skill-based grading of students.
  • Training assessments and conducting mock interviews.
  • Pre-placement training and Career research analysis.
  • Career Guidance for higher education, entrepreneurial, and startup activities.
  • Corporate relationship for Industry Institution interaction such as enabling consultancy services, Tech-talk, Project-based learning, Industrial projects, Industry visits, In-plant training and Internships.
  • Identifying the prospective companies for recruiting the students through Campus Placements.
  • Apprising the students about the job description, eligibility criteria and selection process of the visiting company for campus recruitment.
  • Arranging recruitment drives in the campus, collecting feedback from the HR and continuous follow up with the company for onboarding.

Placement process at CIT

  • The Campus recruitment for the final year students starts from the month of August every year.
  • A calendar for the recruitment drives is released well before the commencement of the first drive.
  • Based on the calendar or schedule the drive dates along with eligibility criteria, Job Description, location, CTC and other details will be released through a circular.
  • Eligible & Interested students will register for the drive through online registration portal.
  • Registered students will be called for an orientation meeting to identify their readiness.
  • Based on the need boot camps would be arranged to train the students before the drive.
  • Finally, the recruitment drive will be initiated as per the company norms.
  • The results will be published after the completion of the drive.

Activities Conducted

  1. Department of Training & Placement in association with ATOM, Bangalore organised ON Campus placement training for the 4th & 6th semester students (ALL Dept) from 23rd March 2026 to April 2nd 2026 headed by Mr. Abishith Rao, CEO, ATOM, Bangalore & his team. As a part of the process, the placement training partners for the AY 2025-26 were finalised & with a vision on making our students Industry ready by improving the overall skill sets of the students.
  2. The modules of the placement training included C language (Full stack) for the 4th semester ECE students & Java (Full stack) for CS & allied department & Solidworks for 4th semester ME & CV, followed by Python Full stack for 6th semester ECE & CS allied departments, followed by Solidworks for 6th semester ME & CV.
  3. The Department of Training & Placement in association with SkillBout, Bangalore conducted 10 day ON-Campus coding classes for the pre-final year students of CS & allied departments in view of the prepartion for the upcoming TCS NQT/Code Vita 2026. The training program was initially conducted for 10 days starting from 10th February 2026 to 20th February 2026. The second phase (10 days) of the training program will commence in the next semester.
  4. A workshop on “Career Opportunities in Merchant Navy” was organized by the Department of Training & Placement, Coorg Institute of Technology on 02-09-2025. The talk was organized targeting exclusively B.E, Pre-final year students (Mechanical Engineering.) to give them a clear picture about the various career opportunities fin Merchant Navy. The Resource person for the Guest talk was Mr. Sandesh S, Sr. Associate Manager, Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies, Lonawala, Maharashtra.
  5. An Immersion Program on “Work & Learn in Japan” was organized by the Department of Training & Placement, Coorg Institute of Technology on 01-09-2025. The talk was organized targeting the B.E, Pre-final year students (All Dept.) to give them a clear picture about the various career opportunities for Indian Engineers in Japan. The Resource person for the Guest talk was Mr. Sanju Lokesh, Director-Strategic Alliances, In4Growth Global, Bangalore.
  6. An expert talk on “Opportunities for Engineering students in the Indian Air-force, Indian Army & Indian Navy” was organized by the Department of Training & Placement, Coorg Institute of Technology on 24-09-2025. The talk was organized targeting the B.E, Pre-final year students (All Dept.) to give them a clear picture about the various career opportunities & domains to choose from. The Resource person for the Guest talk was Mr. Chottekalapanda Prathvi Uthaiah, Retired Sr. Audit Officer, Govt. of India.
  7. As a part of the Orientation program for the First year Engineering students, A Talk on “Road Map to Competitive Exam Success” was organized by the Department of Training & Placement, Coorg Institute of Technology on 16-09-2025. The talk was organized targeting the first year B.E, students (All Dept.) to give them a clear picture about the various career opportunities Competitive Examination & the necessary preparation for the same. The Resource person for the Guest talk was Mr. Tulasi Das G, Director TRIKs Bangalore & C.I.T Alumnus (Batch 2004 passout).
  8. To enhance the coding skills of students in reference to the ongoing placement cycle & to encourage students for their active participation in Hackathon, Ideathon etc., a 5-day hands-on workshop  on Coding was conducted for the 8th semester students of CSE, AI&ML & ECE by the Dept. of Training & Placement, Coorg Institute of Technology, in association with ATOM, Bangalore from 17th to 21st February 2025.
